About the Sangres Art Guild
The Sangres Art Guild is a member-driven organization dedicated to promoting the visual arts throughout the Wet Mountain Valley. Based in Westcliffe, the Guild works to cultivate a dynamic, supportive environment where artists can connect, grow, and share their work with the broader community. As part of that mission, the Guild operates the 3rd Street Art Gallery in Westcliffe, a welcoming space where members exhibit their work and where the arts become a living, breathing part of local commerce and culture. Members don't just show their art — they roll up their sleeves to run the gallery, manage events, and build the community from the inside out.
Why This Feels Like Home
At 1879 Design Co., we've always believed that what we make with our hands carries something deeper than function. Every custom sign, every piece of furniture crafted from locally sourced material, and every other creation that leaves our Silver Cliff shop tells a story — about the people who commissioned it, the land it comes from, and the heritage that makes this corner of Colorado unlike anywhere else on earth.
That belief is exactly what the Sangres Art Guild is built around. The Guild's commitment to fostering the visual arts in the Wet Mountain Valley mirrors our own commitment to craft that is rooted in this place. The Sangre de Cristo Mountains, the wide open skies of the valley, the dark skies over Silver Cliff — all of it shapes what we make and how we make it. Joining a community of artists who share that same sense of place feels like a natural next step.
We look forward to participating in Guild events, connecting with fellow artists and craftspeople, and contributing to a creative culture in Custer County that honors both the heritage and the future of this valley.
